Mac beach ball of fury!!?

When ever I open Pages to work on a brochure, every single action I make, the beach ball comes up and I have to wait a long time before it goes away. Ex: I drag and move a graphic, there pops up the beach ball. Even if I try typing, it takes forever for a letter to show up. This only happens in Pages. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

There are a lot of reasons that could be happening. If it is truly only a problem with Pages, then I first try to reinstall pages.

Does it happen with any file, or just the brochure? Maybe the brochure is so big (has a lot of pictures, etc.) that it's making it slow.
