let me start over i am using a nikon D 300.with a nikon sb 900 flash attached on a bracket.i use my flash to fire my lights by shooting it straight up to fire the slaves on my umbrella and soft box. i have about $1200.00 to spend on new lights. can i get some advice on equipment to buy and a basic setup of the lights. i really could use some help. try to make it as simple as possible please. you can even call me . i am shooting about 500 kids in one day, grades 9 thru 11 head and shoulder shots. could u also advise a good background color. im doing this shoot in 3 weeks. You should have more than one rig going for 500 students.
Let me ask you this: What form of lighting will you be using? Short side? Broad side? Etc. How will you sort the finished images? How will you match the images to the child's name? Will you do pre pay, spec?, proof? Are you providing the school with record images? Percentages? Are you offering retouch (important for that age group)? Why aren't you shooting attached to your strobes instead of slaving from your flash? Are you shooting into a lap top? Do you have back up equipment?
