What are some recommendations on parts for building an Xbox360 Joystick?
I am about to begin building a joystick for Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Street Fight IV for the Xbox360 but first I need to order the parts. I need a few recommendations of joysticks and buttons, and also an explanation on how to choose a PCB (printed circuit board).
I am doing this to avoid purchasing one, so my main goal with this project is to be cheap but efficient and accurate. I want something solid for a low price. I understand it will still cost a few bucks but the lower the better.
Also any tips or tricks to help guide me through this would be much appreciated. It's my first one I will build, but I plan on making a few after I get the hang of it for my friends.
buying arcade buttons and joysticks and all the parts you need will probably cost more and be more work than just buying one preassembled. Besides, you "can't".
here's the thing: microsoft has security techniques in place to not allow unlicensed controllers. Every third controller you have ever seen (gamstop, ddr pads, etc) have all been licensed by microsoft.
If it were me, I would take apart an extra xbox360 controller and try to see if I could replace the buttons by soldering wires directly onto the board, and connecting the other sides of the wire onto the buttons and joystick. That would be your best bet.
