Can an slr (single lens reflex) camera be used as a fully functional manual camera?
im currently enrolled in a film class and am lokking for a manual film camera. i initially thought that if your camera is an slr than you cannot not use it manual (to change aperture settings, focus,depth of field, etc) but im looking on some sights to buy one off of and some describe them as both slr and manual?!?!

Some SLR can, some fully auto ones can't.
The classic student SLR camera is the Pentax K1000, this is a manual camera with TTL (through the lens) metering. There are literally 100's on the second hand market.
Its as basic as you can get, built like a tank, after you've finished with it you can hand it down to your children, even your grandchildren.
About the only thing to go wrong with them is the light seals (as it is with any old camera), easy to repair.
