Is my car battery dead or not?
My POS saturn failed to start the other day. I jumped the car to get it home, took the battery to autozone to have it tested. The guys a Autozone did a load test, said it just needed charging, charged it and gave it back to me. It won't even turn my car over now. I thought bad connections, starter, ignition switch, ground,...but I can jump the car just fine......If I can jump the car, I think it's the battery.....Any ideas?
If they charged the battery AND IT TESTED GOOD, I'd say odds are pretty high its actually your starter. As starters age they will begin taking more and more amperage to turn over, making it seem as your battery is dead, once you add the second battery with a set of jumper cables, you have enough power to turn over a worn out starter again.
AutoZone can do a starter test to measure the amount of amperage your starter is drawing.
