Micro-Mixture Lab - Help?
In a Chemistry lab, we have to prepare a procedure for a for separating Micro-Mixture. The things in the mixture include:
Salt (NaCl)
Sand (SiO2)
Copper Beads (Cu)
Steel Beads (FeC)
Plastic Beads A (Density .80 g/mol)
Plastic Beads B (Density 1.2 g/mol)
We get to use all necessary materials we have in our lab station. Materials we are given include Magnets, screen wire, distilled water, and filter paper.
The glass cylinder which these things are in is small. The glass tube and mixture massed about 13.99 grams.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to successfully separate all these things in the mixture apart?

Just look at the properties of all the materials and determine how you can manipulate those properties so you can separate everything.
First thing to do is "dissolve" the whole mixture in water. This will cause the salt to go into solution. You can then pour this mixture through first: the screen wire to remove the various beds. Then second: the filter paper to collect off the sand
Now you just have a mixture of copper, steel and plastic beads. Use the magnet to remove the steel beads.
Next simply get a tall flask of sorts and fill it with water. Drop the remaining beads in. The copper ones will drop to the bottom and beads A and B will float at different levels in the water due to their different densities. You should be able to retrieve them all separetely easily enough.
