I shot a movie with my handheld digital camera (camera not camcorder) and the file size is 1.7 gigs. I tried to upload it to my computer, but I keep getting an error message saying that it cannot download the file. Upon looking it up, I found that the max size for files is 210 MB. Is there any way around this? I would very much like to get this video onto my computer.

I have not tried transfering directly from a card reader (for my computer cannot read my 4GB memory Card...I will try this when I get a chance though)
I had to take a large movie file specifically for the thing I was shooting, this wasn't planned.
The camera in question is a Cannon PowerShot SX120 IS.
You bring up an interesting point.
If the largest single file that can be transferred via a USB or firewire port is only 210 mb, soon those using 32 gb P2 memory cards on our professional video cameras may be in trouble. For some reason I don't think this is the case.
Why is it you have such a large file. Didn't you have a shooting script that broke the scenes in to smaller bits? Scenes that took less than three to tour minutes to shoot?
Give us more details. Brand and model of camera. Type storage; hard drive, tape, SDHC or P2 memory card?
