How to setup my home theater system?

I received a Philips DVD Home Theater System (model #: HTS3372D/F7), I have a Sharp Television (model #: 27A-S120), a PS3 and a Nintendo Wii, I also have a cable box provided to me by my cable company it is made by Motorola. To connect all the devices I purchased a 4-way component video distribution amplifier from RadioShack.

When I connect all the devices the only thing that plays from the surround sound speakers is the television, the DVD player on the surround sound system will not play the video, when I turn on one of the game systems and leave the speakers on you can hear the sound from the TV.

How do I connect all four devices and have the sound from each device play like it should be properly?

I have a panasonic surround sound, a toshiba TV and a wii... This is how I did mine - Hooked the HD DVR directly to the TV with an HDMI cable. Hooked the HD DVR to the surround sound with red and white cables - "audio out" on the cable box "audio in" on the surround sound. Hooked the wii to the tv using the wii HD hook-up. Plugged the RGB cable directly into the TV, plugged the red and white cable to the surround sound. To play I switch my TV's input to the wii and my surround sound input to auxiliary. Connected the DVD portion of the surround sound to the TV with red, white and yellow connectors ("out" from the DVD, "in" to the TV) to play I change the TV's input to the DVD and the surround sound to the DVD. I hope this made sense. Every component needs it's own special combination set-up between the TV and the Surround Sound. You can't just plug them all in and then have the system automatically figure out which one you're using. Good Luck.

Edit: I'm not sure I explained that last part properly... every time I switch modes I have to press one button on my TV remote and one button on my surround sound. So - my default is the cable box. When I turn the system on, the cable shows from the TV and sounds from the system. When I change to DVD, I press a button on my TV remote to indicate DVD and another on my surround sound remote to do the same. For my wii, I press a different a different button on my TV remote and a different button on my surround sound remote to indicate that I want to see/hear the wii.
