What would be the best camera for taking photos for my website.?
I make handcrafted garden lighting. I would like to take some photos of them placed in different settings in my garden also some close up shots as well to show the detail.I am not a professional photographer, can anyone recomend what type of camera and lens would suit me best. I would like a new camera that costs less than 300 pound and is fairly simply to use.Do I need a DSLR or SRL camera. Thank you for any answers.
I'd recommend you get a photographer to do it for you instead. Even if you get a camera at that price range, you won't really know how to use it to get decent pictures and this is for your business so it's best to get it right.
You don't know about aperture, ISO, shutter speed, rule of thirds, composition, lighting ...
At 300 pounds, you won't have all the decent equipment that will be needed for a good shot, the right lenses, off camera lighting, reflectors, softboxes ...
Amateurish pictures will give the impression that you aren't a serious business person and will have the opposite effect that you are going for. People will leave your site and go elsewhere.
It will cost you more but it will be well done.
If this is for your business then just consider it a business expense and take it out of your marketing budget. I'm not sure about tax laws in the UK but here, in Canada, the services you hire for this would be tax deductible anyways.
If you do want to do it yourself then don;t bother getting a DSLR. Either get a decent bridge camera (one that looks like a DSLR but the lens is actually built into the body) or simply rent the gear. I rent from a shop called headshots and it would cost me a couple of hundred dollars to rent the gear I'd need for a day or a weekend.
