Apple Powerbook G4 Broken LCD, booting problem Double edge sward?
Apple Powerbook G4 1ghz. first i had a hard drive problem.. could not boot.. could not start. while i was dinking around, i broke the hidges.. then the lcd.. so i rip the lcd and the cover off the laptop . ( hense can't do clamshell mode)
I would like to.. boot with external display.. right now it just show white screen. i do not know if it shows white screen because hd is messed up or the display is messed up.
please help.
The fact that you "ripped" the LCD off may have damaged the motherboard. That may be part of your problem.
The fact that your diagnostic approach to issues is to end up causing more damage, may also be part of the problem. You could have damaged something you didn't even know about.
This computer should have gone into a repair shop the moment it started having problems. That said, you should be able to boot this to a CD, but since all you see is a white screen, I would imagine that your issue is far more serious than simply a damaged hard drive. Try taking the hard drive out. Then, if you still only get a white screen, you know it is not because of the hard drive.
