If you want to connect a hotshoe flash to a camera...?
If you want to connect a flash to a camera through a hot shoe adapter thing, does the camera need flash originally to sychronise? How does it work? Thanks.
Pressing the shutter triggers the flash to fire (is that what you are asking?). That is how it's synchronized.
Although you can use pretty much any flash with the hotshoe, it's better use a flash that is dedicated for your particular camera - this ensures the camera can communicate fully with the flash (otherwise, you have to use the flash in manual mode, which is difficult to do for novices). Also, if it's a really old flash on a new camera, it can allegedly damage the camera.
