Sony A200 kit lens vs Nikon D40 kit lens?

obviously the sony has a better range but which is the better quality lens
IF the Nikon says VR on the lens, then you are comparing the same features. If the Nikon lens does not have VR in its name, you have no image stabilization. The A200 has image stabilization built into the body, the Nikon depends on the lens for IS. With these lenses, it will only make a difference in lower light and shutter speeds slower than about 1/60 sec.
