Digital to Emulsion, LCD enlarger?
Has anyone ever tried anything like this, I know some means might not produce great quality but there may be some interesting effects.
-Making a contact print off an lcd monitor
-using a small lcd screen in place of a negative on a photo enlarger
-Using an computer and projector to enlarge a digital photo
I want to know more about the experiance and any unexpected results then just hearing that film negatives produced a better picture, or I should just get the picture printed at walmart.
I've never experimented with this. We used to experiment with various light sources in the darkroom. But nothing like that.
Here's what I think you will find based on my years of experience in my custom lab.
-Making a contact print off an lcd monitor
You will have to play with the exposure. It will not be in focus but you still may get something weird that you like. Your LCD would be shooting a positive so you would have to decide if you want a negative image or would you want to print onto a media and use chemicals to produce another positive?
-using a small lcd screen in place of a negative on a photo enlarger
I don't think the light source is going to be sufficient. You would need something like a 5x7 or an 8x10 enlarger probably. I don't think the lens is going to project the image from the LCD onto the paper on the easel on the baseboard. But you never know. Maybe with a long enough exposure you might get something but then you get into problems with the papers and such. I don't think this will work at all.
-Using an computer and projector to enlarge a digital photo
Again, you would have to reverse the image onto the paper from a positive to a negative or accept the results. But this has potential of actually creating an image. I don't think you'll get anything sharp in focus but you may not care.
With any of this you can certainly try. Sometimes artistic things happen through experimentation. You may be the next world renown artist. You just never know until you try.
