Is it time to replace my flash light if one of the batteries is leaking battery acid?
The battery is in the flash light for a long time. I believe the battery acid is leaking from its shell. Is there a way to remove the battery?

The leaked gunk I've seen is pretty weak & crumbly. Smacking the flashlight body a few times should free up the batteries. If that doesn't work, try soaking it in something like coca-cola or vinegar for a few minutes.
If plain soap & water and an old toothbrush doesn't completely remove the gunk, try the following:
"Heavy duty" batteries (Acid) - paste of water & baking soda
"Alkaline" Batteries (alkaline) - vinegar or cola
Rinse well & dry.
I would only replace the flashlight if the electrical contacts are too corroded to be cleaned up. Usually a light buffing with ordinary copy paper will do the job.
