What does the lever next to the M and X do on a 5x4 lens?
I'm having a lot of trouble shooting with flash on a 5x4 camera. It keeps failing to expose anything on a polaroid. I've checked the polaroid back - its fine. The aperture and shutter speed are correct. I'm stuck as to what is causing the problem. Could it be this lever on the lens near an M and X? It is currently set to M and exposes without flash but not with. Please help...
The camera is a Linhof Master Technika 5x4
There are two levers ... on cocks the shutter and the other opens the lens so you can focus. You then have to close the lens before you put your film in the camera.
Remember to fire the shutter a couple of times to get it up to speed unless it is an electroic shutter.
You may want to take a class in photography. There is much more to a 4x5 view camera than knowing how to use the lenses shutter.
