why can't I find 8x10 Kodak paper?
OK, basically I need to make 8x10 prints on Kodak paper. Why can't I find any 8x10 inkjet photo paper with a lustre finish. I find 8.5x11 everywhere along with some other sizes. 8x10 is a common print size, so why can't I find this. When you do these sort of prints, do you actually print on 8.5x11, and manually cut paper down, because that seems insane! What am I missing here?
the client is very fussy about what paper I use. It NEEDS to be an American owned company, and more specifically NEEDS to be Kodak.
8.5 x 11 is the standard size for printers - the standard is derived from the fact that printers were made for documents before they were made for photo prints so the manufacturers already had everything set up for 8.5 x 11. Kodak just followed the already established inkjet market. The paper does not come in the 8 x 10 size.
8 x 10 photo paper comes from the days when prints were made from full size glass negatives. Just center it on the 8.5 x 11 and print. Cut it down if you need to or hide the extra in the matte.
