put these camera brands in order of highest reputation.?
i am looking to buy a digital slr, most preferably a canon.
hep me by rating these brand names with their camera reputation from highest to least.
canon, nikon, olympus, pentax
also, do the same for these lens brands
nikon, canon, sigma, pentax, tamron, sony, fuji

Canon and Nikon are about even, and together they dominate market share. Another good one for digital cameras is Sony. I wouldn't go with Olympus or Pentax. They don't have the financial resources to commit to the R&D necessary to keep up with the other guys.
Nikon and Canon lense mounts are propriatary to their own brand, so you won't have much of a choice there. Among the independent lense manufacturers, I like Tokina and Tamron. Sigma or any of the house brand lenses aren't at the same level.
