what's the difference in photo affect with 60" photography strobe umbrella and 36"?
I need help. I dont know what to get
I dont know what's the difference
exactly what the other guy said. the bigger your umbrella the bigger circle of light will be cast on your subject. Remember that with light circles, depending on how you are usign the umbrella, it will often be 'hotter' in the middle and fade off around the edges, so a bigger umbrella will give a larger hot area, but a longer transition. Another consideration is what light you are using. If you are using a small flash unit then you might only want the small umbrella, compared to if you are using a large studio strobe.
The reason for this is because of output. The smaller one can't dump as much light as the larger flash, so the area it is flooding needs to be smaller to make more use of it, otherwise you will not be getting the maximum light values because the light is being spread out too much and there is not enough left to hit your subject with what values you need.
All of these considerations change slightly, depending on if you are using a black-backed reflective umbrella and flashing into it so the light will bounce back out, or if you are using a white translucent umbrella that you flash through, pointing the other direction. With a shoot though umbrella the hot spot will be more apparent, you will lose more light, but you will also be able to get your umbrella closer, and it will create softer shadows.
