Why doesn't the sky look bluer?
Qualified responses only, please. I have been an amateur photographer for almost 40 years, but this one has me stumped. I am using a Sony Alpha 55 DSLR with a circular polarizing filter. When I compose a shot using the polarizer in the AUTO mode the sky looks very dark blue, which is the effect I'm trying for, but when I see the photo, the sky is a few shades lighter than it looked on LiveView. All other cameras I have used, both film and digital, do show the sky in a nice dark blue tint, so why doesn't the A55?
Both cameras pointing at the same scene with the same filter rotating the same way? You ought to get a similar if not the same result.
You have to do a scientific experiment here. Two different cameras (as you said), same lens, same filter, and taken at the same time (because the sun matters). I really think they will look alike.
