Do Tv Projection Kits work, or is it a scam?
I was wondering if anyone has bought and used a home theater tv projection kit? I've seen them on ebay and other places on the internet. You basically get a special lens. Then you have to build the rest of it, and it's suppose to project the image on your tv, on to a wall, but big, like a big screen. Has anyone done this? Does it work?
i have not used it, but familiar with the process. and technically yes it works, but the resolution and brightness/contrast is very pour. the tv was made and designed to a certain resolution and brightness for a particular screen size to alter that is to work outside the manufactures intended magnification and brightness and therfore the quality is going to be not only of a lesser resolution, but also not near as bright (it will apear washed out). In todays market you are better off buying a projector designed for that set up. a cheap projector will run around 500 bucks that would look better than a kit. If you wanted basic high definition that would start around $1000.
Honestly i would not invest in the kit, i think you would be disapointed. also keep in mind the screen used can effect the picture as well.
If you are paitent there is a site www.woot.com that has a single item sale with $5 dollar shipping for that item. the item is always a excellent sale. many times a fraction of the next best price out there, however it is one item a day for only a day. they have a projector at least three times a year. and many times are hgh def of decent quality for under $1000 bucks. other times i have seen a standard definition with screen for only a few hundred. they have also had 42-50 plazmas for well under $1000.
