What is the difference between the Nikon ML-3 Modulite set and the Nikon ML l3 remote control?
I need to invest in a remote shutter release for my Nikon D40, I know that both the ML-3 and the MLl3 are compatible, the ML-3 is way more expensive than the mll3. Does anybody own either one of them? What are the pro's and con's?
You only need the ML-L3 remote, because the D40 already has the receiver built into the camera. It should cost under $16.
The ML-3 modulite set is for cameras without the built-in infrared receiver, such as the Nikon D3, and thus, the set contains a receiver and the transmitter and is correspondingly more expensive.
The only limitation with the ML-L3 is that with the D40, there's a 15 minute time limit for long exposures. Otherwise, you have a working distance of up to about 15 feet with the infrared transmitter.
