Does reversing rhodium plating from a yellow gold ring caused damage to the ring?
Hello I was wondering if you could inform whether by changing a yellow gold diamond ring into a rhodium plated ring and then reversing this back into the original yellow gold would have any compromising effects on the welfare of the ring itself?
A jewellers rhodium plated my (Wedding Ring)yellow gold ring in error and they want to reverse it back instead of giving me compensation.
A reply from would be highly appreciated.

From what I know, you cannot simply reverse the plating procedure. You can do that with other metal plating, but as far as I know, rhodium doesn't respond to that. What they can do is mechanically buffing it off. I am not sure how exact that would work around the stone settings (if they are claw set) and I would expect that a small amount of gold will come off as well. I don't think it would compromise the ring. It wouldn't be a lot different to having the ring professionally polished.
