technological knowhow required to 'compose' it and to 'read' it
literacy level required
methods of distribution
who is it aimed at? (audience)
how permanent do you want it to be?
how interactive do you want it - is it 2-way or 1-way?
how formal/informal do you want it?
what do you want people to do when they read it ?- eg buy something, as that can dictate the method used
do you need an instant/simultaneous response or can people consider their reaction?
