If you already own the T2i...simply have a look on page 72 of your Instruction Manual for the answer. It shows you how many images you can shoot per 4GB.
An 8GB card should be more than enough for general day to day shooting of images. However, if recording Full HD movies, you need to take into account the very large file sizes of 330MB/min...or 4GB for every 12 minutes recorded (page 132 of the Manual).
If you don't already own the T2i, you can download the Instruction manual from here...

But, even if you do already own the camera, I recommend you download the Manual anyway...that way you will always have a ready accessible reference to your camera.
p.s. Sandisk is an excellent, reliable and very popular brand. It's the brand I always use and recommend. I would use nothing less than the Extreme SDHC 30MB/sec (Class 10) for recording Full HD movies. Just remember to Format your new card (via the camera Menu) prior to very first use and also everytime after you transfer all files to your computer (pages 42-43 of your Manual shows you how).
I also recommend you buy an SDHC card reader and use it with your memory card to transfer files to your computer...especially very large movie files. It's a faster method of file transferal, plus it doesn't rely on your camera's battery.
