Which remote (cable) is better for a DSLR camera- the conventional one or the one with added features ?
I own a Canon 1000D camera. Canon recommends RS-60E3- a cable release remote which functions just like the shutter button on the camera,ie half press to focus and then the full click.
The second option is on this ebay site (this is not a canon product):

As written here it offers:
1. intermittent shutter releasing; e.g. one picture per 12 secs
2. time exposure exact to the second; e.g. 4mins 32secs
3. timer; delayed shutter release (up to 99h 59mins 59s)
4. number of shutter releases for continuous shooting: 1-399 or indefinite
The online costs are about the same.
Are the features in the second remote really that useful? Or should I go with the safe and simple
Canon RS- 60E3?
I find having an interval timer useful for things like star trails & time lapse photography. If you think you might want to try those, then the eBay remote would be better.
