Its going to be almost a week, i just bought an indian ring neck from a breeder. She wasnt able to separate it from its siblings long enough so it is just getting used to being alone. when i went to see the bird it didnt knwo how to step up but it was very calm on your shoulder and hand. NOw that i have it home, its very scared to have my hand around the cage. I DONT even put my hand inside. it doesnt bite hard but it still wont let my push up against its chest. it will just hang upside down on the bearch to try to avoid it. I know she is starting to like me beacuse she like hanging out on the edge of her cage when i turn on the tv in the moring and she knows when i say "are you hungy" she will climb down her food bowl. im starting to clicker train her but i was wondering is their other way to teach them to step up...?
try putting some seed in your hand so when she comes over to pick it up get her out of the cage and away from the cage . bring her into a room n spend time alone with her so she knows u mean no harm to her . once she knows u are a source of food she will no long be a frighted of u when ever put your hand in . you have to say up when ever she get up on your hand .
