Is it safe to use a 26W CFL in a clamp Light?
I bought a Bayco Super Tite Grip Clamp Light from walmart today and i have a 26W CFL (compact flourescent light) bulb i want to use it with.
All it says is a 150W or lower bulb should be used and type A bulb max. Would a 26W CFL (compact flourescent light) be ok?
Sure. The 150W limitation is based on avoiding a bulb that will get hot enough to damage the socket or fixture wiring from overheating, or allow the reflector to become hot enough to be a fire hazard. Since the ACTUAL wattage (regardless of the "equivalent to the light from..." watts) is 26W, it will be plenty cool for safety concerns.
