is it worth getting the teleconverter lens for canon g10?
i currently own a canon g10, and am an amateur/ok professional photographer. I was wondering whether the teleconverter lens was worth buying or rubbish. Besides the teleconverter lens there aren't other lens right?Can anyone please comment on how you think the teleconverter lens is?
It is probably not worth it.
You'd probably only need it if you have something very specific you really needed it for, like taking pictures at a sports event where you cannot get closer to the players. If you don't have something particular in mind, then give it a miss (or think about buying a sweet new camera...).
A teleconverter basically adds an extra lens element and extends the effective length of the lens so you get more zoom. More lens elements means more chance of flare and chromatic aberration (fringing) in contrasty outdoor light, and it can sometimes lead to extra distortion such as barrel and pincushion distortion depending on zoom level, not to mention being annoying - you have to take it on and off all the time just put your camera away.
That teleconverter also needs a lens adapter.
