Is this toxic black mold!?
I just moved into my apartment 3 days ago, and when I turned off the air conditioner, I heard a splat noise-as if water was leaking. I made a mental note and went into the guest bedroom to set up the bed. Then I noticed something black protruding through the carpet. It was black mold!
When I opened the furnace closet, and peeked behind, there was mold EVERYWHERE!

What would be your first choice of action if you were in this situation. I already notified the leasing office. Mold is serious, and really I just want a new Apartment. Any pointers.....legal advise etc?
call the better buisness bureau and i would look for somewehere else immediatly! ur lease should be void b/c of this prob and they should be giving u ur down payment back! i would also contact a lawyer for legal advice especially if n e one in ur house gets sick- i would NOT stay there- take lots of pics- if u have to stay at a hotel until u find another place i would and i think that the current apt owners should pay for that expense but i would definatly consult someone before hand to make sure u do it all leagally!
