Question about exposure compensation using bounce flash?
I just got a used Nikon FA from Ebay, and it came with an SB-15 speedlight. I've never shot using bounce flash before- so when I'm using TTL metering, I always have to use exposure compensation, correct? Meaning that, because the light is diffused off the medium (wall, ceiling) I have to add +1 or +2, yes?
OK, so regardless of whether the flash is directed at the subject or bounced, it simply reads the light hitting the film and knows when proper exposure has been reached, right?
TTL stands for Through The Lens, so what the camera is measuring is the light, from all sources, coming in Through The Lens.
With a compatible flash, the camera's inbuilt light meter controls not only the cameras exposure settings but the flash output as well.
