Canon lens recommendations?
I currently have a Canon EF 28-105mm lens ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF_28-105mm_lens ). Some of the highlights:
-Zoom (28-105mm) (obviously)
-Ultrasonic motor
-f/3.5-4.5
-Autofocus
One thing this lens is lacking is image stabilization. I'm planning on getting either a Rebel XSi or a T1i to mount a lens on. The other disadvantage of this lens is the fact that the autofocus is slow, which is problematic for action/sports shots. So the question: should I use this lens, or buy another one? If you say I should buy one, what lens?
It is true that the autofocus may be slow because of the fairly old camera it's mounted on (Canon EOS A2).
Because some of these lenses are quite expensive, consider renting before buying. I use Lensrental.com. The company is very good to work with and the owner provides helpful comments about each lens at the website, pros and cons; what the lens is suitable for; weight and size, etc.

If I were buying today, between the two cameras, I'd get the T1i (I own the XSi), primarily because it has a much higher ISO range, with an extended ISO range up to ISO 12800. Though people typically think of higher ISO numbers in terms of low light, it can be an advantage for action photography by raising the ISO to increase shutter speed and help reduce the effects of camera shake. A fast shutter speed can also be used to help freeze the action.
Also get the fastest lens you can afford, one with a large aperture. With a fast lens, pictures can also be shot with faster shutter speeds. Also, using a wide aperture will decrease depth-of-field, blurring the background in a image. If you nail focus on an action figure, it will stand out more (ie. isolate the subject) when the background is blurred.
