Could you make a waterproof paper house with waste newsprint paper ?
I used to like papier-mâché crafts when I wasn't much larger than a broadsheet newspaper.
All sorts of creations appeared, from little more than newspaper mixed with , flour, salt and water.
Would it be feasible to build a papier-mâché shelter? Could a cement or mud be used instead of flour? How could the paper superstructure be made mold resistant and waterproof? Lime?
For all the newsprint that is thrown away, on my block alone, I'd have enough building material to make a paper mansion!
I remember a product called wheat paste that was use to
make papier-mache items. After the 'bricks' are completely
dry seal them with something like Thompson's Water Seal.
I would use the bricks to build a fun playhouse but I wouldn't
want to live in a house like that. It wouldn't hold up to stormy
weather let alone a tornado.
