White Balance Filter

Color Filter M values?
I am using Sony DSLR-A300, I have a question about the white balance set up. I have no idea about the option at COLOR FILTER, it has the range from M1 to M9 values. Anyone can tell me what do those values mean and any guildlines to set up a right color filter in different environments? Thanks!!
The main white balance setting is generally color temperature. It will have a value like 5500, for sunlight, or 3200 for incandescent light. The color filter options are for tweaking the color balance. M is probably for magenta, so lower numbers will make the picture more green and higher number more magenta. For the most part you can leave those settings alone unless you have a particular color cast problem. If you're having a hard time getting the white balance right, shoot in RAW and correct in postprocessing, where you usually have more control.
