Xti Xsi

Should I buy the Canon Rebel xti or wait for the xsi to come our mid-April?
I am just getting into photography as something other than what I do at family gatherings, and I plan on doing it as a hobby for years to come. Eventually.... possibly... professional. Do you think the xsi is worth waiting for?

I vote for the XTi and a good lens. The lens will make more of a difference than the body. And the lenses will outlast the bodies. Dont forget your also going to need a memory card, and will probably want a tripod, camera bag, memory card reader, a good flash (430EX is pretty powerful), and please get the extended warranty.
If you want to become a pro, neither camera is made to withstand severe beatings. They are entry level cameras (and very good for beginners). They can teach quite a lot about photography if you have a means of learning. A weekend community college course would be a good way to start.
No I do not think the XSi is worth waiting for. If it were already here and you could afford it and it felt right then go for it. If your set on waiting for it then do that because if you settle for the XTi and then wind up getting the XSi because you just had to have it then you just wasted the money for the XTi.
